Purely Goods is demo site based on a live client gifting website. This client was looking for an upgraded Squarespace website that would allow them to sell their affiliated goods. This client had a robust catelog of products and blogs and required an easy to manage solution to add products and blogs over the holiday season. The client also requested a search function, mega menu and subtle animation not native to Squarespace.
After understanding the scope, we got to work on their custom Squarespace site. We implemented a search bar which we appended to the header, added a scrolling text animation to the main marketing area and created a custom mega menu. The client requested a very modern feel to help balance the 1000+ products available, so we opted out of any type of video or large imagery at the top of the homepage.
To meet the request of a more manageable solution for the product inventory, we leveraged Squarespace’s store front. We hid the add to cart button and added an easy to replace link which we stylized to match the call to action buttons throughout the site. We then were able to reference these products in their various blogs as needed. To organize the products and match to the appropriate blogs, we leveraged the category and tags. This system is the heart of this redesign. By updating the tags and categories for each product, customers can search for any product or blog throughout the website. All of this is now managed from the shop or product section of Squarespace’s interface. The client now has the ability to manage the product from one place which would then be updated natively throughout the website.
As mentioned earlier, we created a robust search and filter template which we implemented on every product page. Customers could filter products by category or tag. This search functionality is also present on the homepage of the website with a simpler style.
Time to build this custom Squarespace site was roughly 14 weeks. This was due to the mass migration of content and products.
