About The Client

Our wedding planning app lets users plan their weddings with ease and organization, benefiting both brides and vendors by providing an intuitive project management system shared between both parties. We measure effectiveness by analyzing the number of app downloads and shares among users actively using the app. After the bride's wedding date, we provide a survey to rate the experience for both the vendors and brides.

User Research

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I am designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified as bridal boutique and vendor owners who wish to expand their marketing efforts by collecting information from the bride.

This user group confirmed original assumptions about bridal shop owners, but research also revealed there was a need from the bride as well. Brides shown that many work full time and cannot afford a wedding planner to manage and organize their wedding. They also expressed a lack of time, finances, and a sense of overwhelm when navigating the wedding planning process.

Pain Points

  • Accessibility
Platforms are geared towards just brides or just a specific venue. Users need something that allows both parties to communicate
  • Time
The amount of information is too overwhelming for a bride to navigate while working full time.
  • Finances
The cost of a wedding planner is not something accessible for today’s bride.

Accessibility Considerations

1.
Menu

Ensuring the app includes multiple ways to access a menu.

2.
Color

Keeping all colors, especially buttons high contrast for those who are visually impaired.

3.
Font

Used reader friendly fonts throughout the app, Lexend. This font has been rated the most easy to read of 2022.

Impact

Since building The Veil wedding app, I received a lot of positive feedback from friends and family in the industry. All of them felt that when this app is live, they want to be the first to know so they can start using this for their business and clients.

Lessons Learned

This project gave huge insight on how a design or iteration can ivolve. After researching the target audience, it was clear the need was more for the bride and less for the vendor as we originally suspected.
